Teeth Whitening

What shade are you?

The natural colour of our teeth varies greatly from person to person. In addition, our lifestyle can also have an impact and items such as tea, coffee and red wine are all known to cause staining when consumed on a regular basis, as is smoking tobacco.

One of the more common shade guides divides tooth colour into four basic shade ranges:

Tooth Shades

A (reddish brown)
B (reddish yellow)
C (grey)
D (reddish grey)
Within each range are different levels of darkness, which results in a chart detailed enough for almost everyone to find their tooth colour on the guide.

How many shades whiter will my teeth become after Teeth Whitening?

While results will vary from treatment to treatment and patient to patient, most patients who undergo teeth whitening treatment will find that a difference of only two shades will make a noticeable difference in their smile, but teeth can whiten as many as nine shades over the course of treatment and further top ups.
Please keep in mind that there’s no guarantee to how many shades whiter your teeth will become, as the results are very much dependent on the natural colour of your teeth and the level of teeth staining, thus results can vary widely.

Why whiten your teeth?

Whether you are simply unhappy with the colour of your teeth, or wish to get them looking great for those special occasions such as, holidays, job interviews, weddings, important meetings or just because you want to look great, professional teeth whitening is a great investment and is also a far safer option than DIY teeth whitening kits.
Not only will a whiter smile boost your confidence and help you to look and feel years younger, it’s also beneficial to your oral health too.

Can anyone have Teeth Whitening?

Whilst most people may be ideal candidates for teeth whitening only a thorough examination of your teeth and gums can determine if teeth whitening is suitable for you.
You must be over the age of 18 years old and you should not undergo teeth whitening if you are pregnant.
Teeth whitening is not suitable for anyone with tooth decay or gum disease. These problems would need to be treated before commencing any teeth whitening treatment.

How long does Teeth Whitening last?

Teeth whitening procedures produce lasting improvements by brightening your smile and lightening the colour of your teeth typically by several shades. However over time, your teeth may start to become dull and grey again as a result of dietary and lifestyle habits as well as the natural aging process.
In order to maintain your whiter smile good home oral hygiene is essential and regular visits to a Dental Hygienist will help to remove any staining.
We also recommend teeth whitening top-up treatments every 12 to 18 months to maintain optimal results.

How much does Teeth Whitening cost?

The cost of our Teeth Whitening treatments are:

You will need top and bottom Teeth Whitening Trays – £179.00

You then have the option to choose from four of the leading Teeth Whitening Gels – ZoomBoutiqueWhite Dental BeautyEnlighten. The prices of these whitening gels starts from £39.95 to £175.00. You can also by whitening gel top-ups from us.

You may need to add the cost of a dental examination as in order for your dentist to prescribe teeth whitening you are required to undergo a full dental examination if you have not had one in the previous six months.
In order to achieve the best possible results we would always recommend that you visit one of our Dental Hygienists for a scale and polish before commencing your teeth whitening treatment.

How many appointments will I need?

Normally two visits are required, the first when impressions of your mouth and teeth are taken and a second when your new whitening trays are fitted and your dentist will demonstrate how to use the whitening kit.
At either of these visits we would also recommend visiting one of our dental hygienists. Your dentist may also request that you see them again for a review after you have completed your Teeth Whitening treatment.
